Margaret Raftis and Charlotte Gubby - U14A Girls Doubles Runners Up Charlotte Gubby and Margaret Raftis are the new U14A Surrey Girls Doubles Champions!

It was a fantastic day today for some of the Albury players at the Surrey U14 Doubles Tournament. First was a last minute scratch pairing with Sophie Walton who won the U14B girls doubles with a partner from Elmbridge. Sophie then partnered Patrick Maher in the mixed doubles to take Silver.

In the A section, Charlotte Gubby and Margaret Raftis beat all the other pairs to take the U14A girls doubles title so they are now the new U14 Girls Doubles Champions.

In the mixed doubles, Sophie was invited to compete in the A section mixed doubles following from her good results in the B section, although Sophie and partner Manu (Wilson's) didn't get through to the main draw, they beat one Surrey pair and were put into the Plate knock outs and went all the way to the Plate finals beating two other pairs on the way.

Charlotte Gubby paired with Kristian Plender and Margaret Raftis paired Sophie Walton and Patrick Maher - U14B Mixed Doubles Runners Upwith Thomas Saunders, both pair topped their groups and entered the main draw; Margaret and Thomas reached the quarter finals; Charlotte and Kristian reached the semi finals against a pair they beat in the group stage, they were leading the game until Charlotte was struck hard in the eye by a shuttlecock from a direct net kill; inevitably this affected her vision and they narrowly lost 22-20 in the semi finals.
